In a previous entry, we discussed the terribly frightening world of NoFollow links, how they can harm you, and how you can avoid them. However, what we didn’t go into was the best approach to finding links that DO follow. Since this is of key strategic importance in developing your site’s page rank, we will go into it now. Here are a few of the great sites that are both well ranked and won’t slap you with a NoFollow.

1. Propeller.

This fusion site combines aspects of news sharing, social networking, voting or liking for your favorite stories and articles, and the opportunity to do some social bookmarking. And that’s right – the social bookmarking links DO follow.

2. Flickr.

This site is based on pretty, pretty pictures. Pictures of all kinds are frequently uploaded here, and an active social community then discusses and comments on them. Links that you provide in the picture’s description, believe it or not, DO follow.

3. Digg.

Digg is a complex network on posts and comments, where people are able to show their love for an article by “digging it.” If you create unique content and add it to the site, and that unique and wonderful content happens to include a link, then it DOES follow.

4. Squidoo.

No, it’s not a marine biology website. It’s a social network and forum that allows you to create miniature sites known as “lenses.” These highly customizable lenses allow you to create content in innumerable forms, and if you happen to include a link on the page, that link DOES follow.

5. Listible.

Let’s face it. Everyone loves making lists. That’s the obsession that this site was based around. You can come here and start a list of anything that you’d like, and find lists that other people have constructed. If you include links to sites in those lists, they FOLLOW.

6. Slashdot.

These guys were the original creators of the modern conception of social bookmarking. You can create stories and bookmarks here to share with the world, and if it’s good enough and gets, it might even make it to their home page with that DoFollow link.
